This blog is for those who like the idea of combining their surf and yoga holiday with some pre or post city vibes in Marrakech.

We love Marrakech for the following reasons;

Exploring the Souk and Medina. From a quiet morning potter, to the bustling evening energy. We find the Souk sellers eager to make their first sale – gets the day started – so usually will lower prices in the morning. If you prefer a more peaceful and local shopping experience, explore deeper into the Souk, or head to the Mellah area.

Mellah. This area to the south of the city, 10 mins walk from Djemma El Fna, is the former Jewish Quarter. The shopping here is quieter and you will be able to practise your bartering skills in a less hurried way. Whilst in the area, head to the Place des Ferblantiers, a beautiful square lined with cafes and artisan boutiques.

Jardins Marjorelle. Best enjoyed in the quieter times, usually first thing in the morning. Tickets can be pre purchased which helps with entrance queuing. You can easily spend an hour or two exploring the cactus-filled gardens, and highly recommend a walk around the Berber Museum which is part of the gardens too.

Riad Attajmil. Our home-from-home in Marrakech. It’s easy to find, close to the Souk, Italian owned, boasts elegant and stylish interiors, the rooftop restaurant serves delightful breakfasts and candlelit dinners, attentive staff and comfortable, reasonably priced accommodation. http://www.darattajmil.com/en/home/

Cooking courses. Riad Attajmil offer excellent half-day cooking courses, for residents and non-residents. Includes a visit to the fruit and veg area of the Souk, a choice of several traditional dishes to prepare and be enjoyed with your fellow chefs on their roof terrace afterwards.

So if your best flight option is to or from Marrakech, jump on board and enjoy exploring the cities’ quirky cafes, souk-filled treasures and colourful culture.
